Montenegro packs coastal, chestnut-forest and high-mountain forage into a country you can cross in three hours, so honey from Crmnica tastes nothing like honey from the Durmitor plateau. That is why it is worth knowing which hillside a jar came from rather than buying a blend off a shelf.
This category collects acacia, chestnut, meadow, forest and honeydew honey, plus propolis, pollen, royal jelly and beeswax. Ask for the forage area, the location and the harvest year, and prefer honey that has not been heated or filtered to clarity — crystallisation is usually a sign it was left alone.
